My name is Jason Dormer.

For the last 20 years, I have owned and managed an accountancy business which I started from scratch.

I have overcome many challenges running this business within that time, the bulk of these challenges were overcoming my own shortcomings. When I say overcoming, some of my shortcomings are still there, but I have studied, implemented and use daily strategies and actions to minimise me getting in the way of myself.

Over the years, I have coached many other accountants and bookkeepers to launch, grow and sustain success. I have also been a boxing coach for years which has sharpened my skills for getting the best results based on the strengths and weaknesses of the individual that I train.

You may wonder how coaching boxers would have any bearing on coaching business owners but boxing is a metaphor for business and for life. Those boxers who I know will be the most likely to succeed:

– Show up for each and every training session whether in the mood or not;

– Work on the fundamentals;
– Take the knocks and keep moving forward;
– Manage the self talk in their heads;
– Stick to the plan regardless of the curveballs that life throws at them;
– Take criticism on the chin and act on it;
– Do the things they don’t want to do;
– Manage their emotions in difficult situations;
– Face their fears;
– Master both discipline and sacrifice; and
– Won’t make excuses.

All of these traits you need to run a successful business that gives you the rewards you want.
